Objectives

Drink driving continues to be a major problem in Queensland Australia. In the past two years there has been a significant increase; not only in alcohol consumption generally, but also an increase in road trauma.

Compared to pre-covid data, there has been a 23% increase in lives lost from drink driving crashes, a 26% increase in drink driver deaths plus a 39% increase in hospitalised casualties.

Young men between the ages of 18-39 in regional Queensland are disproportionately affected – with 32% admitting to drink driving when they may be over the limit

By targeting young men in regional Queensland, our objectives were to:

Increase the perception that “drink driving will have consequences”.
Increase the amount of people “actively trying not to drive over the legal limit”
