To change Singaporean’s perspectives of refuse generation, increase awareness and nudge behavioural change so that they make conscious efforts to reduce the amount of refuse generated from consumer products across categories like food and beverage, personal wear and wares.
This is an urgent issue, given the nation’s tiny geographical size, as well as the fact that our only refuse landfill will reach capacity by 2035. To mitigate this, the National Environment Agency, as part of the Zero Waste Masterplan Singapore, has sought to educate the public on personal responsibilities required for the nation to reach its intended net-zero-waste goal.
