For many Wellingtonians (Residents of New Zealand’s capital city), Christmas wasn’t shaping up to be very merry. The cost of living and economic slow down was making it harder for many average Kiwi’s to make ends meet.
Thousands of people depend on Wellington City Mission (WCM) to get through the Christmas period. Every year, WCM run a Christmas Appeal raising donations and provide support to the community from food supply for families who can’t afford it, to critical care like transitional housing.
It was a dire landscape for giving.
We needed an additional $130,000 to fill the budget hole, matching demand – the largest ever Christmas target.
The challenge
We faced an urgent need to draw out generosity of donors in the toughest of financial times, but critical funds couldn’t be spent on media – every dollar needed to go to those in need.
We had no media budget.
Objectives:
• Raise critical funds for Christmas initiative – $130,000
